Kenneth P. Barnhart has practiced law for more than 25 years, serving as Principal Counsel to the District of Columbia Water & Sewer Authority and as Associate General Counsel to the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission, in addition to having his own practice from 2001-2003. Ken studied at the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri (JD 1978), where he was on the staff of The Urban Law Annual, and at the University of Maryland (BS with High Honors 1973). He is a member of the Maryland and D.C. Bars. He also is a member of the bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
Ken belongs to the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association and the Vermont Bar Association. He practices in the areas of Family Law, Litigation, Employment Law and Land Use and Zoning Law. Since joining Thyden, Gross and Callahan in October 2004, Ken has won significant victories in a contested divorce trial in Maryland and in a wrongful death trial in the District of Columbia.
